A social worker helps families, communities, or individuals through difficult times. Social workers assist individuals or groups of people in a number of different areas, including those who are homeless, those having trouble at home, or those battling a drug addiction. Women in social work will usually make $1.08 for every $1.00 a man would make.

Although women do typically make more than men in these fields, it is also important to note that these jobs don’t play nearly as well as jobs known for discrepancies where men make more and the difference is much larger than just a few cents. But for women working in these areas, their salaries are usually higher than their male peers.
