Despite the pressing demand for law services, it’s an extremely aggressive field as attorneys and their clientèle are always trying to spend less. And as these underpaid paralegals are saddled with a greater workload, over 50% of law studies majors have a hard time getting work.

Plus, going to school longer to get a full law degree won’t necessarily increase your job opportunities. The public need for attorneys is below average, and the number of them is only predicted to increase 6.7% by the year 2025.

Alternative major

If you’ve always dreamed of being a paralegal, a master’s degree in legal studies is unnecessary. You can actually be one with just an associate’s degree and a certification. Likewise, if you want to be a lawyer one day, you can achieve it with a broad variety of majors that will not restrict your job prospects. For instance, you could choose a broader and more lucrative economics major while still pursuing a law career.
